In April of 2017, I found myself at the heaviest weight I had been in my life. That’s a tough thing to admit and I was definitely miserable. My clothes were uncomfortable, I was fighting acid reflux on a regular basis, I was winded easily and exhausted most of the time. That is not where you want to be in the beginning of your 30’s and I finally decided, that after years of going up and down in weight and trying diets that I couldn’t possibly keep up for a lengthy period of time, it was time to change my lifestyle and feel better.
I started small in May, not wanting to injure myself with strenuous workouts and changed some of my eating habits, but from previous experiences, I knew that I would need some accountability to keep me going, especially through the ultimate plateaus. I heard about Dr. Prakash from an ad on the radio and started doing some research into Living Well Balanced. In June, after reading reviews for his office in NYC, and all of the services they offered, I called and made a nutrition appointment.
It has been incredibly helpful for me to meet with Dr. Janet and learn more about how to better fuel my body with food. Side note: I eat a lot of food, do not stay hungry at all and still lose weight! In addition to consulting on nutrition, I started working out with Wes, the personal trainer at LWB. He is awesome and really motivates me to stay on track with exercise.
Currently I can only workout with him once a week, but through his training, I see a difference in my own workouts at home. Since starting with LWB I have lost a total of 41 pounds (50 since May)! I still have goals to lose more, but I have the tools and the accountability to keep going. I feel better than I have in years and I am thankful that Dr. Prakash opened his office in Raleigh.
I have been extremely satisfied with the results that the whole Living Well Balanced Team has provided me. We have met or exceeded all of my goals that we set in my initial exam and consultation. They have changed my life, and I feel 10 years younger!
Going into my senior years, most of my concerns were related to aging. Slightly overweight, poor posture, lower back stiffness and low energy. I still keep very active, but to be honest, I had stopped exercising long ago. Dr. Prakash performed an exam and evaluation. He suggested a 90 day program involving simple diet changes, some high quality vitamins, and supplements, exercise, stretching, massage and of course spinal adjustments.
I signed on board, and to be fair, I followed all the recommendations 100%, except for the exercising. I just didn’t feel like I wanted to do that yet. I made it a point to stay away from processed foods. I felt an improvement almost right away from the adjustments Dr. Prakash was giving me. It seems that he has a gift for being able to sense exactly what you need. He has taught me so much, he always has a good answer for anything related to your health. He has a great personality and sense of humor, and always takes the time to get to know how you are feeling at the moment. The massages that the Massage Therapist gave me were deeply relaxing and rejuvenating, she has magic fingers. The stretching sessions I get from the Personal Trainer Wes were surprising, as he was always on target with the level that I needed. His knowledge of the human body is impressive. I even took advantage of a Military Veterans Special recently and received a relaxing facial from the Esthetician, Sereta - that was a first! Paula does a great job handling the desk up front and keeps everything flowing smoothly with the appointments and any questions you may have.
After 90 days, we did a review. I couldn’t believe how good I felt, definitely had more energy, and the stiffness in my back was gone. We reevaluated my body mass, fat vs muscle, and saw an improvement there on the computer analysis. I could tell my body was processing food and water differently. I know that my posture was better, I was carrying myself differently. My friends that I hadn’t seen in a while would say “You look different, what did you do?”
And then there were the unexpected improvements thet we hadn’t even discussed. My constant sinus issues that I have had for years was almost gone, my indigestion that I had periodically after dinner was gone. I even lost 6 pounds. Those were some great bonuses! Fast Forward – I am now at the six month mark and everything is still getting better. Dr. Prakash said I will soon be ready to go into more of a maintenance phase with my adjustments to just 1 visit per week. My weight loss is now at 11 pounds. I now feel like I do want to exercise, and my body is ready for it. I am presently in the process of setting up a weekly schedule with Wes.
As an Army veteran, I have had back and knee pain ever since getting out of the service. I initially came to Living Well Balanced because I needed to find a new chiropractor and was drawn to the idea of a holistic practice that took into account the importance of muscles and joints via massage and stretching. Over the course of the past year I have seen dramatic improvement in the way my body feels. I have five compressed disks in my back as a result of being a paratrooper, and this has been the first time anyone has been able to adjust them. I also thought that I had arthritis in my knees due to the pain involved in going up and down stairs. Massage and stretching has eliminated the majority of this pain; rather than arthritis it turns out that tight muscles and ligaments were moving my joints out of alignment. Throughout this process I have found everyone at the office to be attentive to the particular aches and pains of my body so that each type of service can complement each other.
My partner also started coming to Living Well Balanced at the same time I did. Luckily for her, she does not have the same type of wear and tear on her body, but as an archaeologist she does do a lot of manual labor during the field season, combined with a lot of sitting at desks when she does lab work and report writing in the off-season. During our time at the practice we found out that she was pregnant with our first child (!). She has experienced almost none of the common ailments of pregnancy, which we attribute in part to Dr. Ankur and his staff. Throughout the pregnancy, she has communicated with the staff about any dietary issues or pains she has had and together they have worked to find solutions. As her pregnancy has progressed it has been especially helpful to combine chiropractic and massage throughout all the changes her body is going through, and she was also able to talk with the practice’s nutritionist about easy strategies for meals when she was having some issues eating. The most consistent remarks we have received is about how healthy she looks so far into her pregnancy and we definitely have Living Well Balanced to thank for that.
I’ve been living with the symptoms of an autoimmune disorder for several years. When I first came to Living Well Balanced, I was not only suffering from serious chronic fatigue and painful arthritis, but I had developed an awkward gait in both my feet.
Six months later, I feel like a new person! Instead of pumping me with more unnecessary drugs, LWB took a natural and holistic approach to treating my symptoms. With the help of regular therapeutic massage and custom orthotics, my gait has returned to normal and my feet and ankles no longer hurt. I met with the nutritionist, Dr. Janet, who suggested a diet and supplements that have helped me with most of my symptoms. Between regular adjustments, stretching, therapeutic massage and nutrition, I have energy and stamina I’ve never had before and currently have lost 20 pounds since the beginning of this year.
The crew here has become like a family to me. Even from my first visit, I felt like I was at home. The atmosphere is so comfortable and I really enjoyed being at a Doctor’s office. I have received so many compliments regarding how great I look. My friends and co-workers can tell a major difference, not just in my overall appearance, but also in my demeanor. I feel more positive about myself and life in general. I am so grateful to Living Well Balanced for giving me a new chance at having a better quality of life. I will be forever grateful.
I am so glad that I met Dr. Ankur and became his patient, and if you are reading this to decide if you should get treatments by him, I am telling you don’t hesitate, go see him now! I have more energy, feel stronger and healthier, and have less pain since I started going to Living Well Balanced almost a year ago.
I started with massages, like I’ve never had before, then an eye-opening evaluation and exam by Dr. Ankur. He put me on a schedule of adjustments and stretching, and then added personal training. Let me tell you that I have never had any other team of practitioners, of any type, treat me with such warmth, consideration and complete involvement in the execution of my wellness plan. I am astounded how Dr Ankur is always so cheerful, welcoming and gets totally into you, while also expending so much effort on getting your body fixed just right. Similarly, my personal trainer, Wes, connects with me wonderfully and is obviously invested heavily in doing the right things to improve my overall well-being.
The most amazing outcome of my treatments was getting rid of some joint and muscle issues that frankly I didn’t think I would be able to resolve. I had accepted that the chronic pains in my shoulder and neck that I’d had for years as things I’d just have to live with. On top of that, after a bad Cross Fit training experience, my knees were hurting all the time and the muscles in my thighs would be constantly sore. Going up stairs and even walking was an exercise in pain management. I just resigned myself thinking that’s just the way things are. It got so bad, I took the drastic step of seeing an orthopedic surgeon to get injections and explore other options.
Well right now the fact is that many of those issues are either gone or a fraction of what they were before. There were a few OMG! moments too! For example, a few months after I started seeing Dr. Ankur, one night when I was doing the dishes after dinner, I suddenly realized that my lower back didn’t hurt as it always did while standing at the sink for more than a few minutes. Normally, I would have to stop and let my wife finish the dishes. That pain was something I just accepted as part of me, and I had no idea that it was something that could be eliminated! Well now I can do the dishes no problem, to my continued astonishment, and the wife gets to rest for a change!
I have to add that even without the improvement physically, I just love going to Living Well Balanced. Every one is so nice, and the office is so inviting, it’s like a little party every time I go. I can’t help but feel pumped after my sessions. I go first thing in the morning, and the days I go there are always better than the days I don’t! And no, I was not compensated in any way for this testimonial, and I personally wrote everything myself and it all really did happen!
I want to share my experience and the health benefits I’ve derived from continued treatment regiments at Living Well Balanced. Weekly and religiously I make time for adjustments, cryotherapy, infrared therapy, stretching and massage. Here is my journey of wellness.
I am fifty-nine years old and previously was told I have arthritis in my left knee. I lived with pain and walked with a limp daily. Recently in the last three months I was told I need my right hip replaced. Over the past year in discussions with Dr. Prakash we developed a wellness plan that being honest my results have exceeded my expectations.
It began with the initial consultation and body scan which showed that I could afford to lose weight, exercise and lead a healthier life then I was living. In the past six months I had the blood work done and take the supplements from standard process that help my body heal and thrive.
It’s been a little over a year long process and the results for me have been nothing short of miraculous. I am able to exercise thirty to sixty minutes per day, four to six times per week. My left knee is almost pain free and my hip is hardly noticeable. I am fitter and healthier than when I was in my thirties. I have lost weight and most importantly inches. I feel great and believe this transformation requires patience, perseverance and most importantly continued treatment for wellness at Living Well Balanced.
Best of luck with your journey and I hope you can realize all of the benefits I have derived from being a member.
When I first heard the radio ad for Living Well Balanced I was at the end of my rope. I was in constant pain and was desperate for answers on how I could feel better. As an active 41 year old I couldn’t understand why I was experiencing low back pain every day.
Over the years I had tried countless ways to rid myself of back pain. I went to MULTIPLE chiropractors some of which told me not to work out at all (I run, play golf, Pilates, yoga) others just kept adjusting me with no end in sight. I had also tried acupuncture and physical therapy. At one point I went to an orthopedic doctor who did an MRI and said I had arthritis but offered no solutions for my pain.
When I went for my first appointment at Living Well Balanced, I was skeptical at best. What could this office do for me that all of the others could not? I’m happy to say that all skepticism has vanished. I can now get through a day without pain killers. Their whole body approach and strategies made the difference I was looking for…on a recent visit we realized that it had been 4 weeks since my last adjustment and I was pain free!
Everyone at Living Well Balanced seems to be invested in my health and well-being. They always take the time to listen and focus on me as a patient. I have never felt rushed through an appointment. Finding this practice has honestly changed my life. Getting through my days without pain makes all of the difference in the world!!
